Inspired by the work of Ines Seidel, I wanted to try out her technique of stitching paper and removing pieces. Since I love to work in layers, I think I will find a way to incorporate this in my own style for future projects.
Week 18: Tag Art
I made these for my DIY column in the newspaper. It was really fun because you are limited with space and you can quickly complete a mini piece of art all on its own. There is something about the low risk factor of mini art that allows for play.
Week 19: Lace Knitting
On vacation I had lots of time to knit in a beautiful setting! While I have done some easy lace knitting before, this pattern was much more challenging. I feel really good that I was able to get through it!
I created a textured "stone layer" in week 15 for a larger piece of art I am working on. This week I layered it under my quilt and cut away the top fabric to reveal the stone layer using a method called reverse applique. Cutting into the piece was a bit scary because I was afraid to ruin it but I like the way it turned out.
I had a lot of fun the last several weeks and have some ideas of new things I want to tackle in the next few weeks of play.
